Union for Trentino

The Unione per il Trentino ( to German: Union for the Trentino, UPT ) is a party autonomist Christian Democrats, which is active in the northern Italian province of Trento. Formation

In 2007 joined the two largest parties in the Italian center-left camp, the national leadership of the Left and the Christian Social La Margherita - Democrazia è Libertà, along the Partito Democratico.

In Trentino there are, however, numerous supporters of the Margherita spoke out against the merger with the Democrats of the Left. At the behest of longtime State Governor Dellai they founded the Union for Trentino in June 2008.

Regional level

In the parliamentary elections on 9 November 2008, the party won 17.9 % of the vote and 7 seats. So they immediately became the second strongest force behind the Partito Democratico. You could also unite the voices of many voters of the Unione di Centro ( UDC) on itself, because it was not approved for formal reasons for the choice.

Dellai was confirmed in office.

National Level

Dellai applies together with Francesco Rutelli and Bruno Tabacci as a founding member of the new movement Alleanza per l' Italia.
