Union of the Corsican People

The Corsican People's Union ( Corsican: Unione di u Populu Corsu, UPC ) was a Corsican regional party.

The UPC was launched on 17 July 1977 as a collective movement of moderate Corsican regionalism (as opposed to militant nationalism of the FLNC ). Predecessor organization was the union founded on February 1, 1977 the Corsican patriots (APC ), which campaigned for the release of imprisoned Edmond Simeoni. The restructuring of the APC to the model of a political party led to the creation of the UPC. Longtime party leader was François Alfonsi.

2002 UPC went to the newly formed Partitu di a Nazione Corsa along with two other Corsican nationalist groupings. The new party also succeeds UPC membership of the European Free Alliance.
