Union of the Peoples of Cameroon

The Union of Peoples of Cameroon (French Union des populations du Cameroun, English Union of the Peoples of Cameroon, UPC symbol ) is a political party in Cameroon, founded on 10 April 1948 in a cafe in Douala - Bassa called "At Sierra ".

She was a section of the West African colonial party Rassemblement Démocratique Africain. The party published the La Voix du Cameroun, Lumiere, Étoile and the Vérité.

History

The party founders are: Jacques Ngom, Assale Charles William Hondt, Joseph Raymond Etoundi, Leopold Mouma Etia Georges Yemi, Theodore William Ngosso Bagala, Leonard Bouli, Emmanuel Yap, Jacques -René Bidoum and HR Manga Mado. Ruben To Nyobe did not participate.

The party fought for the independence of the African peoples in the British-French colony of Cameroon and resisted a petition to the UN against the oppression by the colonial powers.

Today, it is almost meaningless, in which - however controversial - presidential election in Cameroon in 2011 its candidate, received only 0.17% of the vote.
