The Stadtwaldsee is a quarry on the Bremen Town Forest. Because of its close proximity to the University of Bremen is also the colloquial name lake Uni has established.

Location

The lake is located in the district of Bremen Horn -Lehe, north of citizens park and forest, between the Technology Park of the University of Bremen in the East and the motorway access road and Highway 27 in the north. It is 28.2 acres in size and about 15 m deep.

Use

On the northeastern shore is the so-called Uni- wilderness, a nature reserve, a nudist beach and, a little further west, a campsite. In the south- east, on the plain side facing up lawns are with sandy beach. There are also occasional concerts and outdoor events. The west end is currently used by surfers, anglers and divers. A planned water skiing facility provided in 2005 and 2007 for dispute between a citizens' initiative and a majority of the Advisory Board on one side and the Senator for the Interior and Sport or the potential operator on the other side. Meanwhile, there is a Wellness Park is planned.

Since it comes in the summer frequently to the formation of algae, the lake must be disabled to bathe occasionally.

History

The result are the sea and the nature reserve by sand removal during the expansion of the motorway A 27 and the building of the university.

Accessibility

The stops Wetterungsweg, camping and Stadtwaldsee bus number 28 of the Bremen tram AG are located near the northern West Bank.
