United American Lines

The United American Lines (UAL ) was an American shipping company based in New York and operated a transatlantic liner service in close cooperation with the German Hapag, also there was a trans-Pacific service which led to the Panama Canal.

History

1920, the United American Lines was founded by the American William H. Harriman, a member of the Harriman family. The company presented a joint of the American Ship & Commerce Corporation Venture, a subsidiary of the American - Hawaiian Line ( Harriman Group ), and the German Hapag represents the vessels of the shipping company were easily identified by a yellow chimney with two narrow blue bands.

After the end of the First World War, the Hapag looking for a partner to gain a foothold in the international shipping business again.
