United Church in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands

The United Church in Papua New Guinea was established in 1968 under the name United Church in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands by the merger of the London Missionary Society (active in the formerly British- Australian part of Papua New Guinea ), the Presbyterian Church (mainly Port Moresby ) and the Methodist Mission ( mainly active in the islands of Papua New Guinea and the northern and western Solomon Islands).

In 1996 the United Church separated into Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to the United Church in Papua New Guinea and the United Church in the Solomon Islands.

The church has about 600,000 full members.
