The British general election in 1950 of 23 February 1950, the first elections for a legislature, under the leadership of the Labour Party.

The result gave Labour a narrow majority of 5 seats. Then, the party called a general election for the year 1951. Significant changes since the general election in 1945 were both the abolition of the last double-seat constituencies and the universities as their own constituencies, adopted in the Representation of the People Act 1948.
