The British general election, 1970 took place on 18 June 1970. In the elections of the deputies of the lower house (House of Commons ) were redetermined.

Electoral system

Was chosen according to the simple majority system. A restrictive clause did not exist.

Election result

Election winner was the Conservative Party with 46.4 percent of the vote. She won an absolute majority with 330 of 630 seats. However, election loser was the previously ruling Labour Party. She had the greatest loss of votes in the election to accept and thereby lost their previous absolute majority.
