This should be signaled that education and learning are the driving force for change and thus the basis for the approach to sustainable development. Coordinating body is the UNESCO. In Germany, the UN Decade of the German Commission for UNESCO (Bonn) is implemented.

The UN Decade of International

Since the development and implementation of specific programs is transferred completely to the regional or national level, it is possible that conflicting ideas are represented by sustainable development. There is no global approach to it has been agreed internationally. Like many of the decades passed by the General Assembly of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development is not binding. Thus, the reaction is voluntary and therefore in this case in the different countries at very different levels, if at all. On one hand, this is mainly a question of budget. Since there is no financial support from the UN for the implementation of the Decade, the financing is very different. In Germany the reaction with about € 300,000 a year is best financed. In New Zealand, for example, are € 25,000 available, while other countries have no budget. On the other hand, the method of implementation also depends generally on the different social and economic situations prevailing in the respective countries and the related primary problems. The tendency can be stated that in the poorer countries rather basic education in the foreground, while it comes to GNI in the narrow sense in the implementation in the richer countries.
