The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs ( OOSA ), the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs dt is the United Nations agency for Outer Space Affairs, and serves to promote international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space.

Organization and tasks

The OOSA is located since 1993 in the United Nations headquarters in Vienna. Since 2007 OOSA is headed by Mazlan Othman.

The Vienna office also maintains a register of all flying objects that come into the universe ( OSO, Online Index of Objects Launched into Outer Space ). UN-SPIDER (United Nations Platform for Space - based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response ) is a directory of rescue organizations and action catalogs for accidents related to space travel. The register is administered by the OOSA and is based on Resolution No. 61/ 110, the General Assembly of 14 December 2006.
