United Nations Security Council Resolution 1441

The UN Resolution 1441 was adopted during its 4644th meeting of the UN Security Council on 8 November 2002.

It calls on Iraq to accept the previous Security Council resolutions unconditionally and gives him the final opportunity to comply with its obligations with respect to a disarmament of biological and / or biochemical weapons ( proactive stance ). Furthermore, Iraq is prompted to grant (IAEA ) full access to the production of weapons the UN security inspectors and the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Iraqi government was set to November 15 to accept this resolution with an ultimatum. On November 13, the Iraq accepted the resolution. In order for a team of weapons inspectors headed by Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei was sent to Baghdad in four years.
