The Security Council called again on both sides, the implementation of Resolution 338 of the UN Security Council and extended by its decision, the mandate of United Nations Disengagement Observer Force ( UNDOF ), whose purpose is to monitor the agreement between Syria and Israel in the 1974 Armistice until June 30, 2007.

The body issued the advisory basis the report of the UN Secretary-General (document S/2006/938 ) and confirmed its resolution 1308 from the year 2000.

The report of the Secretary-General had noted that, although the situation in the Syrian-Israeli Armistice Line ( to 1 December 2006 10 June ) remained in the period under quiet, but remains tense in the Middle East as a whole, and probably will remain, as long as no comprehensive solution is obtained, which takes into account all aspects and problems. That is why the Secretary-General to the Security Council had proposed to extend the mandate of UNDOF, which is one of the oldest United Nations peacekeeping missions for another six months.
