United Nations Security Council Resolution 435

On September 29, 1978, the United Nations Security Council called in Resolution 435 on the withdrawal of the illegal administration of South Africa in Namibia. The power to be transferred to the people of Namibia with the help of the UN. Reference is made to resolution 385 (1976) of the Security Council.

The resolution was at the 2087th meeting of the Security Council by 12 votes unopposed adopted (Czechoslovakia and the USSR were absent ).

On March 19, 1989 SWAPO President Sam Nujoma could sign a ceasefire agreement with South Africa, which paved the way for the UN resolution 435.
