United Nations Security Council Resolution 465

Resolution 465 of the UN Security Council was adopted on 1 March 1980 unanimously by the UN Security Council. Were the subject of the Israeli settlements and the Israeli administration of the " Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem ". This formulation was referring to the West Bank, East Jerusalem, the Golan Heights and the Gaza Strip.

The Security Council cited a report of the UN Commission, which was established by Resolution 446 of the UN Security Council ( 1979). In addition, Israel has been criticized for not working with this Commission. The resolution expressed concern over Israel's settlement policy in the Arab territories, citing the resolutions 237 (1967), 252 (1968), 267 (1969), 271 (1969) and 298 (1971). Furthermore, the Israeli state and its people have been called to dismantle the settlements.

The resolution condemned Israel also for the mayor of Hebron, Fahd Qawasma to have not allowed to travel to the UN New York location.

The resolution concludes by asking the Commission to continue to investigate the situation in the occupied territories and placing a focus on the exploitation of natural resources. The Commission shall submit to the Security Council on 1 September 1980, a new resolution.

The resolution calls upon all States to render aid or assistance to Israel, " as regards its settlement activities in the occupied territories ."
