United Progressive Party (Antigua and Barbuda)

United Progressive Party ( UPP ) is a political party in Antigua and Barbuda.

History

The party was founded in 1992 by the merger of three parties Antigua Caribbean Liberation Movement, Progressive Labour Movement and United National Democratic Party. Current chairman of the party is Winston Baldwin Spencer.

In the elections on 24 March 2004, the party won 55.3 percent of the votes and won 12 of 17 seats in Parliament. The opposition party Antigua Labour Party reached 41.8 percent of the vote and won 4 seats.

In March 2009 made ​​the current parliamentary elections in Antigua and Barbuda.
