United Protestant Church of France

The United Protestant Church of France (French Protestant Church unie de France ) is a union of the two classical Protestant churches in the country. In May 2012, decided the synods of the Reformed Church of France and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of France in Belfort, that their churches a union enter into, and adopted the Constitution of the common church. Even before the two churches worked together in the Protestant Federation of France.

On 1 January 2013, the Union entered into force. The newly founded Uniate church has around 272,000 members, of whom around 250,000 come from the Reformed tradition. This corresponds to 0.4 % of the total population and 16% of Protestants in France. In the new church work 424 Reformed and Lutheran pastors 32.

Like the two previous churches is the new Uniate Church a member of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe ( CPCE).

The Lutheran and Reformed Church in Alsace -Lorraine had joined together in 2006 to the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine.

On the first Synod of the United Church in May 2013 in Lyon Laurent Schlumberger was elected as church president.
