United Service Organizations

The United Service Organizations (USO ) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support and welfare of the U.S. armed forces members and their families.

The foundation goes back to an initiative of the then President Franklin D. Roosevelt, so that the USO was decided by the U.S. Congress on February 4, 1941 in New York. This merger of six civilian charities Salvation Army, YMCA, YWCA, National Catholic Community Services, National Travelers Aid Association, National Jewish Welfare Board is to this day by the U.S. Department of Defense and the President, who presides over the honorary Presidency, assisted.
