United Socialist Party of Venezuela

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela ( Partido Socialista Unido de Spanish Venezuela) is a political party in Venezuela, which was formed from the left political alliances and supporters of the Bolivarian Revolution. Party chairman since its foundation was the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez. The Party is the ruling party and the largest in Venezuela, as well as the largest left-wing party in South America. It is estimated the number of members to 7 million.

After Hugo Chavez had the elections in Venezuela once again won in 2006, he was of the view that parties who support the Bolivarian revolution should be brought together, including parties such as the Movimiento Quinta República ( MVR), Movimento Electoral del Pueblo (MEP), the Unión Popular Venezuela ( UPV ) and the Socialist League. The founding congress took place between January 12 and March 9, 2008, when the interim board of the new party was elected.

At the local and regional elections on 23 November 2008, the candidate of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela won 81% of the mayors in the town halls and 77 % of the governorship of the province of governments.

In the parliamentary elections on 26 September 2010, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela reached 60 % of MANDANTE.

In January 2011, the party leader and President Hugo Chávez expressed harsh criticism of his own party. He accused the organization to ignore the reality of the poor and to be active only during the election campaign. At the same time, he expressed the opinion that the party should not be led by people who are in government offices at the local or national level, and offered to provide his party chairmanship available.
