United States Army Command and General Staff College

The Command and General Staff College ( CGSC ) of the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas is a higher educational institution of the U.S. armed forces, for the training of military leadership. It was originally founded in 1881 as a school for infantry and cavalry.

Organization

Commander of the C & GSC is Lieutenant General Robert L. Caslen, Jr. The Command and General Staff College is divided into training institutions ( Schools ). :

Command and General Staff School ( CGSS )

The Command and General Staff School forms officers from the middle management of the U.S. Army and international students for all possible types of operation of land forces as commanders or staff officers.

School of Advanced Military Studies ( SAMS )

This school trains future commanders of the U.S. armed forces and international students. The aim is to enable students to solve complex problems at the operational and strategic levels. The study programs of this school be completed with a Masters in Military Arts and Sciences.

School for Command Preparation (SCP )

This department provides officers for future use as a brigade or battalion commander. Similarly, non-commissioned officers are trained as guide assistant as Command Sergeant Major of a battalion or a brigade

School of Advanced Leadership and Tactics (SALT )

The School of Advanced Leadership and Tactics forms officers from lieutenant to major in at the tactical level.
