The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases ( USAMRIID; German medical research facility of the U.S. Army for infectious diseases) in Fort Detrick, Maryland is probably the most important laboratory of the U.S. with respect to the research on biological weapons and corresponding antidotes.

Here vaccines, treatment and diagnostic options for use in the field and in laboratories are being developed and researched.

It is placed on a close collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and elitist academic centers around the world value.

The unit was due to the General Order No. 6, dated January 27, 1969, Office of the Surgeon General of the Army, situated.
