United States Billiard Association

The United States Billiard Association is the governing body for American Billiards Sports, headquartered in East Islip, New York. He is one of 21 national associations of the American Continental Association Confederación Panamericana de Billar (CPB ).

History

The history of the association is in fact the story of three separate organizations in the United States - the USBA itself, which preceded it " Billiard Federation of the USA" ( BFUSA ) and finally the "American Billiard Association " ( ABA).

BFUSA - 1966-1968

Founded by Robert Byrne, Edward Courtney and Virgil E. Erikson 1966, the BFUSA was a non-profit organization that cared for the promotion and development of the billiard sport, in particular the three band billiards in the United States. She was still recognized in the founding year, as North American subsidiary, the World Association Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB ). By creating the BFUSA it was now possible to qualify for U.S. players organized by the UMB World Championships.

The BFUSA started, authorized by the UMB, a special " World Invitational Tournament " and authorized in October 1966, to take up six of the best three-band players in the world in San Francisco. Two Players from the European ( CEB), Asia ( ACBC ) and South American (CPB ) confederations and three players from the United States rounded out the field.

The own plans according to rejuvenate the game of billiards in the country, the BFUSA, in the second half of 1967, all over the U.S. is organizing appropriate tournaments. ABA - 1968-1988

The "American Billiard Association " ( ABA) was founded in 1968 by Robert Byrne, Don Tozer, Merhl Smith, Harold Schmidt, to organize three-band tournaments throughout the Midwest regularly. It spread over time throughout the entire United States and became divided into East, Central and West Division.

USBA - since 1988

1988 merged the BFUSA and the ABA for USBA (United States Billiard Association ). She cares about the interests until today in the U.S. tri-band.
