United States–Colombia Free Trade Agreement

The free trade agreement between Colombia and the United States (in Spanish Tratado de libre comercio (TLC) entre Colombia y Estados Unidos ), about the be on 27 February 2006 Colombia and the U.S. agreed after intense, 21 -month negotiations on the establishment of a bilateral free trade area, will come perhaps to 2008. The Colombian government hopes that as a result of free trade, an increase in exports to the U.S. in the next three years by 50%. This will bring the country annually an additional GDP growth by one percentage point.

Criticism

The Colombian government admitted officially that it will be after the entry into force of the FTA Preferred and disadvantaged.
