United States Department of Education

The Ministry of Education of the United States (English United States Department of Education) is part of the Federal Government of the United States. It was created by the Department of Education Organization Act and adopted on May 4, 1980 to work. The tasks of the Ministry were incorporated until the adoption of the federal law in 1979 in the health, education and welfare ministry. History

In contrast to the education system of many other states, the education system in the United States is highly decentralized. The federal government is not in charge of the general running of the school, the setting of educational standards or the accreditation of educational institutions, for these questions, the individual states and private accreditation organizations are responsible. Rather, it is the task of the Ministry of Education to develop a financial support of the Federal and enforce relevant to education Federal privacy laws and equality.

The first Ministry of Education was established in 1867, its importance but shortly thereafter to the downgraded a subordinate authority. The establishment of a separate Ministry of a century later, was marked by heated debates and organized resistances in particular by the Republican Party, who looked at by the Authority in unwanted interference from the federal government in local affairs. The abolition of the Ministry was in the course of the 1980s a standing point in the election platform of the party; he has not been implemented during the presidency of George Bush and completely abandoned during the presidencies of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. The latter has even given a bigger role with the introduction of the No Child Left Behind Act to the Ministry.
