United States federal executive departments

The Ministries of the United States are among the oldest organizations within the executive branch of the federal government of the United States. The first three ministries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of War and Ministry of Finance were all built within a few weeks in 1789.

The ministries are led by the ministers, who are all members of the traditional Cabinet. Since 1972, they form according to federal law an order of succession to the President of the United States as they move up after the Speaker of the House and the President Pro Tempore for the presidency if it is vacant, together with that of the Vice-President. The Ministers are extensions of the presidential office powers.

Although most federal agencies are one of the ministries, some, like the Environmental Protection Agency, located for example outside of this hierarchy.

Ministries can only be established by Congress. The President as head of government, this so do not restructure, such as the German Chancellor as you desire and need.
