United States Lines

The United States Lines ( USL ) was an American shipping company that operated a transatlantic liner service from 1921 to 1969. The most famous ship was the United States.

History

The shipping company was held by the failed United States Mail Steamship Company. Initially drove a total of three ships for the United States Lines. The America and George Washington were both German passenger ships that went to the First World War as reparation to America. They drove the route New York - Bremerhaven, while the third, the Centennial State, from New York went to London. One of the founding members of the company was called Kermit Roosevelt, son of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.
