United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific

The United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific ( MarForPac ) are a corps of the United States Marine Corps, which is the United States Pacific Command assumed. Commanding General since the August 22, 2008 Lieutenant General Keith J. Stalder. About 84,000 Marines are members of the United Association.

The command is stationed in Camp HM Smith on Oahu, Hawaii. The U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific consist of the Marine Air-Ground Task Forces ( MAGTF )

  • I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF)
  • III. Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF).

The MarForPac are the largest command in the U.S. Marine Corps and are subject to joint forces internally ( subordinate command) to the Fleet Marine Force, Pacific ( FMFPac ) - a total command of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. The motto is Forward ... from the sea ( German: Forward ... from seaward ).

Marine Forces Pacific was assigned as a spatial task area of the Pacific and Indian Ocean, the China Sea and smaller riparian waters (Pacific Theatre ). Functionally, the command is for amphibious landings ( amphibious actions ) and other typical types of applications responsible. Spatially MarForPac working with components from other branches of the armed forces, mainly are the parts of the component commands U.S. Army Pacific (excluding Korea), the U.S. Pacific Fleet, the Pacific Air Forces and various Special Operations Commands.

The Marine Forces Pacific also participated in combat operations in the Middle East, for example, in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Some Marine Expeditionary Units are floating units without permanently assigned ships.
