United States presidential election, 1864

The presidential election in the United States in 1864 took place during the Civil War, so that only the northern states were eligible to vote.

Was re-elected to that of the National Union Party, an election platform of the Republicans and the so-called "War Demokrats ", nominated Abraham Lincoln of Illinois, who received 55 % of the vote and in the electoral college 211 of 233 votes (all except those of Kentucky, Delaware and New jerseys) could achieve. His Vice President was Democrat Andrew Johnson (1808-1875) from Tennessee.

The candidate of the Democratic Party was George B. McClellan (1826-1885) from New Jersey, Vice Presidential candidate George Hunt Pendleton (Ohio ).
