United States Senate Watergate Committee

The Senate Watergate Committee was an investigative committee of the U.S. Senate, which in the Watergate Hotel, and consequently investigated the burglary which is evolving, Watergate affair.

The Committee unearthed core information, which proved that the burglars were instructed to break into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee in order to bug it, and directly from the Committee to Re-elect the President, Richard Nixon's Political Action Committee for re-election as a U.S. President, had been instructed.

Based on the information gathered, the Committee, 40 government officials were dismissed and condemned several of Nixon's advisers of obstruction of justice and other crimes. Due to the work of the Committee of the U.S. Congress, the impeachment proceedings against Richard Nixon, which led directly to his resignation began.

The committee had two chief adviser: Sam Dash and Fred Thompson for the Democrats for the Republicans. The hearings began on 17 May 1973, the Committee published its seven -volume report with 1250 pages on 27 June 1974., Titled Report on Presidential Campaign Activities.
