University City is a city ( with a status of "City" ) in St. Louis County in the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the metropolitan area of Greater St. Louis. In 2010, University City had 35 371 inhabitants. The town was founded by the immediately adjacent southeast Washington University in the City of St. Louis.
Geography
University City is located at the western city limits of St. Louis. The Mississippi River, which forms the border with Illinois, located about 15 km to the east. University City is located at 38 ° 39'21 " north latitude and 90 ° 18'33 " west longitude. The city covers 15.2 km ².
The city is located mostly in the University Township, but also extends into the Hadley and the Clayton Township.
Adjacent places of University City are Clayton ( south ), Ladue (southwest ) Olivette ( west ), Vinita Park (northwest ), Hanley Hills ( north ) and Pagedale and Wellston (northeast ). To the east bordering the city of St. Louis, the center of which lies 14.2 km east of University City.
Traffic
The western boundary of the city is formed from Interstate 170. In west-east direction of the Missouri State Route 340 runs through the town. All other roads are County Roads or more subordinate within city roads.
The northern suburbs is a railway line of the Union Pacific Rail Road, which runs from the west to St. Louis. Along the eastern outskirts of the city and the southern district of University City merge two lines of the Metrolink light rail called the metropolitan area of St. Louis.
The Lambert -Saint Louis International Airport is 14.2 kilometers north-northwest of University City.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in University City 35 371 people in 16,154 households. The population density was 2327 people per square kilometer. In the 16,154 households lived statistically 2.18 per person.
