University College Roosevelt

The Roosevelt Academy in Middelburg is the smallest University College of the Netherlands. It is a globally- blank Honors College and part of the University of Utrecht (Netherlands).

Application

Every year 200 students are admitted, with about 2 /3 of the students from the Netherlands and 1 /3 of the students come from all over the world. The conclusion is that of a Bachlorabschlusses at University College Utrecht ( UCU ). Current information on the application process can be found on the official website of the Roosevelt Academy.

Curriculum

Students take courses in all three core subjects, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, in part. The study language is English.

Exchange programs

There are partnerships with universities, which make it the second or third year to participate in an exchange program. RA students planning their semester abroad through the exchange network of the University of Utrecht in a number of universities around the world and can fully credited at the Roosevelt Academy. There is also a direct exchange program with the University of Nebraska at Kearney, USA and the Glendon College in Toronto, Canada.

Awards and rankings

The NVAO ( Dutch - Flemish Accreditation Organisation ), the Roosevelt Academy awarded the " Excellence " status on 26 August 2009.

The magazine Elsevier assessed the Roosevelt Academy in 2008 for the third time in four years as the best liberal arts college in the Netherlands; the College achieved very good grades in the areas of teaching quality and student care.

In 2011, the Dutch study campaign advisor ( " Keuzegids Onderwijs 2011" ) placed the Roosevelt Academy at rank 1 of all the University Colleges in the Netherlands can be achieved with an average of 8.4 out of 10.

Campus

University buildings

The university buildings are located in the center of Middelburg. The main building is the old town hall of Middelburg, situated on the market square. The nichtgothische part of this building is referred to as Franklin (after the name of the eponymous U.S. President ). There is also the Theodore Building and Eleanor Building, which is located on the other side of the road. In these are all premises of RA, including offices, classrooms and the administrative part.

Housing options

The students are contractually obliged to live in university-owned apartments. The campus consists of Bagijnhof, Roggeveenhof, Driewegenhof and Koestraat. Chance of students live in the Zuidsingel, Zusterstraat and New Haven as above. The Bagijnhof consists of 13 renovated houses, in each of which 10 or 16 people are housed and share a kitchen and a living room. In Driewegenhof each three students share an apartment while in Koestraat and Roggeveenhof the students live alone and have a private bathroom and a small kitchen corner.

Library, bookstore and academic journal

The official academic bookshop of the Roosevelt Academy De Drvkkery ( " The print shop " ) is located in university near the town square. Students also have free access to the Zeeland library ( the largest library in the province ) as well as on the digital library of the University of Utrecht.

Every year is the Roosevelt Academy their own academic journal, " Ad Astra " ( " To the Stars " ) out, which publishes outstanding works and essays of their students.

Student Life

The Roosevelt Academy Student Association ( RASA ) is written student body and organizes a variety of activities of all kinds for their students.

Costs

The tuition fees for the academic year 2011/12, 1,713 euros per academic year for students from EU / EEA countries. For non- EU students, the tuition fees per academic year amount to 7,650 euros. These charges are set by the State and the same height at all public universities in the Netherlands.
