University Heights is a city in Cuyahoga County in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is located approximately 13 kilometers east of Cleveland, is 4.74 km ² and had (2000) 14,146 inhabitants, of which 75.4 % White. University Heights is the site of the Catholic John Carroll University, one of the three major universities in the Cleveland area.

The area of University Heights, was founded in 1908 under the name Idlewood from Warrensville Township. Received its current name of the place in 1925 when the John Carroll University moved its headquarters from Cleveland here. 1940 University Heights became a town.

The place was dominated by agriculture until the First World War. Afterwards, University Heights developed along with the surrounding suburbs of Cleveland for residential. The population grew from 500 (1925) to nearly 6,000 inhabitants ( 1940) and reached to about 1960 today stand The development is comprehensive and consists predominantly of houses and the middle class.
