University-Mount Wellington

University -Mount Wellington AFC is a New Zealand football club which is based in Auckland and is one of the most successful clubs in the country. Received its current name of the club by the merger of Mount Wellington and Auckland University AFC AFC.

History

The club was founded in 1952 under the name of Mount Wellington. 1968 and 1969 was the Northern Premier League to be won. Upon introduction of the New Zealand National Soccer League 1970 Mt Wellington was one of the strongest clubs in the country. In 1971 the team reached the second place in the table, in 1972 the first national title was won. A year later, winning the first Cup title. Overall, Mount Wellington won the championship six times and five times the cup competition.
