University of Arkansas at Monticello
The University of Arkansas at Monticello ( UAM also called ) is a state university in Monticello in the southeast of the U.S. state of Arkansas. At the University 2942 students are enrolled. Since 1971 she is part of the University of Arkansas System.
History
The University was founded in 1910 as the Fourth District Agricultural School and was renamed in 1925 in Arkansas Agricultural and Mechanical College. By joining the University of Arkansas system in 1971, it received its present name. In 2003, the UAM College of Technology - Crossett and the UAM College of Technology - McGehee were integrated into the UAM.
Sports
The sports teams of the UAM are the Bollweevils. The University is a member of the Gulf South Conference.
