University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff

(Also called ( UAPB ) ) The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is a state university in Pine Bluff in the center of the U.S. state of Arkansas. At the University of 3331 students are enrolled. Since 1972 she is part of the University of Arkansas System. According to the University of Arkansas is the second oldest public university in Arkansas. She is known for her research in the field of aquaculture.

History

The University was founded in 1873 as the Branch Normal College for African American and belongs to the historical African-American colleges and universities. It was renamed in 1927 in Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College ( AM & N). In 1972, it was under their present name part of the University of Arkansas System.

Sports

The sports teams are the UAPB Golden Lions. The University is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
