University of Banja Luka

The University of Banja Luka (Serbian: Универзитет у Бањој Луци / Univerzitet u Banjoj Luci ) is one of two universities of Banja Luka, the capital of Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was founded in 1975 and today is divided into 16 faculties.

The University is a member of the European University Association and leading university partnerships, inter alia, with universities in Serbia.

Currently, about 17,000 students study at the 16 faculties of the University of Banja Luka. The establishment of other faculties ( political science, linguistics and mining) is planned.

Faculties

At its inception, the university had five faculties:

  • Faculty of Electrical Engineering
  • Faculty of Technology
  • Engineering faculty
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty of Economics

Later following faculties were added:

  • Faculty of Medicine ( 1978)
  • Faculty of Agriculture ( 1992)
  • Faculty of Forestry ( 1992)
  • Faculty of Philosophy ( 1994)
  • Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering ( 1995)
  • Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics ( 1996)
  • Academy of Art (1999)
  • Faculty of Physical Education and Sport ( 2001)
  • Faculty of Philology (2009)
  • Faculty of Mining
  • Faculty of Political Science
