The University of California, San Francisco ( UCSF ) belongs since 1873 to the University of California ( UC ), a system of public universities in the U.S. state of California. The campus in San Francisco is approximately 55 hectares, the smallest of all locations of the University of California and focuses entirely on medicine and other health sciences.

In the year 2003 2.746 students were enrolled at the university. The UCSF is divided into the departments of dentistry, medicine, nursing and pharmacy and with approximately 18,600 employees, the second largest employer in San Francisco.

Divisions
