The University of Crete (Greek Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης ) is a Greek university on the island of Crete in Rethymno and Heraklion with locations.

History

The University of Crete was established in 1973. The long-standing plans for the establishment of a university in Crete were entered into a decisive phase in the 1960s. Bitterly fought the Cretan cities around the seat of the University.
