The University of Cyprus (Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου ), (English: University of Cyprus ( UCY ) ) is a university in Nicosia and the most important university of the Republic of Cyprus. It was founded in 1989. First President was Nelly Tsouyopoulos. The international consultants at the University of foundation also scored the British Byzantinist Robert Browning. The late Nobel laureate economist Christopher Pissarides 2009 received an honorary doctorate from the university.

At the University of approximately 3,500 students are taught in Greek and Turkish language in six faculties. The faculties are:
