University of Fukui

The University of Fukui (Japanese福井 大学, Fukui daigaku, Eng. University of Fukui ) is a national university in Japan. The main campus is located in Fukui in Fukui Prefecture.

History

The (older) University of Fukui (English Fukui University) was founded in 1949 by the merger of three state schools. The three were:

  • The normal school Fukui (福井 师范学校, Fukui shihan Gakko Sabae, founded in 1873 ),
  • Youth Normal School Fukui (福井 青年 师范学校, Fukui his shihan Gakko Sabae, founded in 1938 ), and
  • The pilot Fukui (福井 工业 専 门 学校, Fukui Kōgyō Semmon Gakko founded 1923).

The three schools were before the Second World War the city Fukui. The War (1945 ) and the Fukui Earthquake (1948 ) destroyed the school building; the Normal School and Youth Normal School moved to Sabae order ( there was located the Teacher Education Department for Women 1928 ). The pilot remained in today's Bunkyō campus in the city of Fukui.

The (older) Fukui University was opened with two faculties: Liberal Arts and Engineering Science. The Faculty of Liberal Arts drew 1952 in the Bunkyō campus and renamed in 1966 in Faculty of Education, 1999 then. In Faculty of Education and Regional Studies

2003, the Medical University of Fukui was (福井 医科大学, Fukui ika daigaku, founded in 1978 ) merged to form the University Fukui.
