University of Kitakyushu

The City University of Kitakyushu (Japanese北九州 市立 大学, Shiritsu daigaku Kitakyushu, in short: Kitakyūdai (北 九大) ) is an urban university in Japan. The main campus is located in Kitakata, Kokuraminami -ku, Kitakyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture.

History

The University was founded in 1946 as a foreign Scientific School Kokura (小 仓 外事 専 门 学校, Kokura Gaiji Semmon Gakko ) was founded. The former city council Kokura founded the foreign language school to contribute to the reconstruction of the city, because the city at that time had a large military base the United States Army.

In 1950, she became a foreign language high school Kitakyushu (北九州 外国语 大学, Kitakyushu gaikokugo daigaku; Kitakyushu described the north of the island of Kyushu ). 1953 she founded the Faculty of Trade Science and notified in University of Kitakyushu (北九州 大学, Kitakyushu daigaku ) around. In 1963, the former city of Kokura was merged into the new city Kitakyushu; 2001, the university was eventually renamed the Municipal University of Kitakyushu.

For a long time she was a humanities and social sciences university, in 2001 the Department of International Environmental and Engineering (国际 环境 工 学部) was established in the new Hibikino campus.
