University of Manchester Library

The John Rylands University Library ( JRUL, John Rylands University Library ) is the library of the University of Manchester and its information service. It was founded in July 1972 from the merger of the Library of Victoria University of Manchester with the John Rylands Library. On 1 October 2004 the library of the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology was added to the union of the two universities. The official names of the libraries have always changed somewhat over the years.

The JRUL is the largest academic library in the United Kingdom without a collection of deposit copies, has the largest collection of electronic resources of libraries in the UK and supports all taught at the university disciplines. The library offers its members a comprehensive number of services and resources (including electronic ). The public, schools and commercial establishments a limited scope is also offered. The entrance to the main building is located in the Burlington Street, Oxford Road Campus (formerly the Victoria University of Manchester ) and is only available with a library card through access point possible.

The John Rylands University Library is also responsible for the supervision of some branch libraries in other university buildings, for example the Eddie Davies Library ( Manchester Business School ) and the Joule Library ( Sackville Street Building ).
