University of Massachusetts Boston

(Also known as UMass Boston or UMB ) The University of Massachusetts Boston is a state university in Boston in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. It is part of the University -of- Massachusetts - network. Its headquarters is on the promontory of the Columbia Point Boston's Dorchester section, near the John F. Kennedy Library.

In 2008/2009, approximately 13,000 students were enrolled at the university.

History

The college was founded in 1964 and since then merged with other universities in Boston, for example, with the Boston State College was founded in 1852. Since 1974 it is situated at the present site. 2000 took place the first presidential debate between George W. Bush and Al Gore on campus in the Clark Center.
