University of Northern Philippines

The University of Northern Philippines ( UNP) (Filipino: Pamantasan ng Pilipinas Hilagang ) is located in the province of Ilocos Sur in the Philippines. It is a state university and is considered an important educational institution in the administrative region of the Ilocos region. The University main campus is located at Quirino Boulevard, Vigan City. She has three satellite campuses in Sinait, Santo Domingo and Santa Maria.

Faculties

The University of Northern Philippines is home to fourteen different faculties, these are divided into high school and technical college areas, as well as vocational education in colleges. These are the Graduate School, College of Law, College of Architecture, College of Engineering, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration and Accountancy, College of Communication and Information Technology, College of College Criminal Justice and Social Work, College of Fine Arts, College of Health Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Teacher Education and the College of Technology. Furthermore, the university has the Upland Research and Development Center ( Sinait ), Environmental Research and Training Center ( Sto. Domingo ) and the Naval Research and Development Center (Santa Maria).

History

The University's history began in 1906 with the opening of Vigan High School. 1910 of which the Vigan Trade School was separated. 1931, the school was raised in status so that the Ilocos Sur Trade School was opened. 1951, the school was converted into the Northern Luzon School of Arts and Trades and 1965 it was awarded the title of a university. The basis for this was the Republic Act 4449. 1989 was the Candon Community College intigriert in the organizational structure, but separated in 2010.
