The University of Ostrava, also: University of Ostrava, Czech: Ostravská univerzita just OSU, was founded in 1991 in Ostrava.

Overview

The origins of the University of Ostrava lie in the higher educational school founded in 1953 in Opava. In Ostrava itself there was in 1959 a Pedagogical Institute, which was founded in 1964 transformed into a Faculty of Education. The university was founded in 1991. In 2006, the Faculty of Arts was created. In 1992, the existing district hospital was in Ostrava University Hospital is the university.
