University of Tennessee at Martin

The University of Tennessee at Martin (also called UT Martin or UTM) is a state university in Martin in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Currently here are enrolled 6,500 students.

History

The UT Martin was founded in 1900 as Baptist College, and then called itself Hall Moody Institute. When the school in 1927 was in danger of being closed, the Institute was taken over by the state and connected as the University of Tennessee Junior College, University of Tennessee. 1951 bachelor's degrees were first offered and the college now called the University of Tennessee Martin Branch. 1967 Finally, it was recorded as ganzwertigen campus into the University of Tennessee system. At that time she also received its current name.

Sports

The sports teams are the UTM Skyhawks. The university is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.
