The University of Zadar ( Croatian Sveučilište u Zadru, Latin Universitas Studiorum Jadertina ) is a public university founded in 2003 in the Croatian port city of Zadar on the Adriatic Sea. The University is a member of the network of Balkan universities.

History

Information provided by some authors claim that entertained the Dominicans in Zadar since 1396 a studium generale for the information in theology, which received in 1553 the right to award academic degrees. 1806/ 07 replaced the Napoleonic authorities called in the parlance of the Dominicans Universitas Jadertina by a lycée. In several international standard works on European university history, an educational institution of university rank, based in Zadar place but nowhere listed.

It is worth mentioning in 1955 by the Faculty of Arts, the. Then only higher education institution in modern Croatia outside of Zagreb Founding date was January 29, 2003; the first University Senate meeting held on 25 March, will henceforth known as University Day (This Academicus ).

Facilities

Of University operations focuses on two locations:

• An " Age campus," in a Baroque building in the old town of Zadar ( address: Mihovila Pavlinovića bb) and
• A " New Campus " ( address: dr Franjo Tuđmana 24i. ).

In addition to the University are available in Zadar also the Naval College and the University of Zadar in Zadar.
