He is in the Wrangell-St Elias National Park and within the catchment area of the Copper River, 6 km southwest of Mount Bona and 61 km south-east of McCarthy.

The first ascent was held by Keith Hart, Leon Blumer, Sheldon Brooks, Tim Kelly, Norman Sanders, Gibson R. Reynolds and Houston on June 19, 1955. Was named the mountain in 1952 by Terris More, the then President of the University of Alaska.
