Unleashed Memories (English for Unleashed Memories ) is the second studio album by Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil. It was released on 18 January 2001 by Century Media.

Construction and content

The band worked in the summer of 2000, the new material. In October of the same year, the band went into the studio Woodhouse in Hagen, where under the guidance of producer Waldemar Sorychta began recording.

"To Live Is to Hide " describes that it is possible for the people hardly to realize themselves, as the company has set too many rules. " Senzafine " is a re-recording of the song from the Halflife EP. Compared to the EP, the song contains a slightly altered text. In addition, the song is so arranged as it was originally written. The meaning of the song title " 1.19 " was never explained by the band exactly. According to Cristina Scabbia of the title describes the distance between two places. The song "Distant Sun" Cristina Scabbia wrote for a friend who has lost their loved ones in a tragic way.

Reception

The album received positive reviews from pages of the trade press. The German magazine Metal Hammer has named Unleashed Memories "Album of the Month". According to Robert Mueller the band manages to "make metal that sounds gothic, emotional and gloomy melancholy, to follow without the beaten track ". According to Wolfgang Schäfer of Rock Hard has the band " not only evolved musically, but are also matured as a songwriter audible ". Shepherd awarded nine out of ten. Andy Hinds of Allmusic Online Magazine wrote in his review that the band " could break out of the stylistic straitjacket ".
