Unplugged is the fifth live solo album by British rock and blues guitarist Eric Clapton. It was recorded in January 1992 in London and released on Reprise Records on 18 August 1992.

The Unplugged concert is a part of the MTV Unplugged series. The songs were re-interpreted acoustically by Clapton for the concert, some almost beyond recognition ( esp. at Layla ), for which he earned both criticism and praise.

Two of the songs, Tears in Heaven and Layla ( in the acoustic version ) achieved top rankings in the singles charts, the Unplugged album in Germany reached # 3 on the album charts.

The video recording of the concert was aired on the music channel MTV and the TV channel 3sat ( Pop Around the Clock ) and is sold on DVD and VHS.

The album reached the top spot on the Billboard Top 200. Eric Clapton received six Grammy Awards for the album ( Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Rock Male Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song), three of which went to the single " Tears in Heaven ".
