Unsere Heimat

Our home (also, Our Homeland) is a song by Pioneer organization Ernst Thalmann. The song's lyrics were written by Herbert Keller and the composition of Hans Naumilkat. The song was written in 1951 ( it was published already in 1961, Volk und Wissen Verlag Songbook "Fresh to sing all her Musici " included) and reflects the understanding of the term "home" of the Free German Youth. The text justifies its importance within communism and the resistance against National Socialism.

Angelika Weiz wrote and sang 1989, a critical extension of the text. The song appeared on the LP home, which was withdrawn due to the text.

Text

Our home, these are not only the cities and villages, our home are also all the trees in the forest. Our home is the grass on the meadow, the grain on the field and the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth and the fish in the river are home. And we love the home, the beautiful, and we protect them because it belongs to the people, because it belongs to our people.

Film Music

As a counterfactual stylistic device accompanies the song in the DEFA film The Architects ( 1989) Scenes from street canyons, the Berlin Wall, industrial complexes and housing estates. In the movie Good Bye, Lenin! it is sung by two alleged Young Pioneers.
